NEVER. FORGET.

Hard to forget when people keep making shockingly distasteful commemorative cakes about it. I have to admit, I laughed when I saw this photo--a nervous, oh-the-fucking-horror kind of giggle, the one I used upon hearing my first *good* 9/11 joke, which was seen on Arrested Development.

As seen on the Slog; chapeau to Manthony
for the tip.

Yeah, not so funny. But you know what? The people who like this kinda humor are funny. In the head. I had a kid in class the other day who was joking about box cutters. SO not funny. Especially since are school is so close to the Pentagon.

Is it bad that this photo makes me hungry? I mean, the chocolate icing looks particularly tasty. I'm going to hell for that, aren't I.

Carrie, you have a free pass: you're preggers!

Oh great. Now in addition to all the Christian fundamentalists mad at you you're going to have the Jihadists PO'd at you for belittling their efforts. When will you stop poking at the bees' nests?
OH WHEN???

To quote South Park, either "everything is funny or nothing is funny."

But when I happened upon this photo I did think it was probably the most tasteless cake I'd every seen. (Although not necessarily the most flavorless.)

Well Matt, I like to include everybody. I'm sweet like that.

Tasteless is one thing... but what was the fucking *point*? Is it commemorative, or celebratory??? It LOOKS celebratory.

1. Yes, Snotty, you ARE funny in the head. ;) And you're awesome the way you are!

2. My mouth still waters when I see this photo. Thank GOODNESS I'm pregnant. If I wasn't and my mouth watered I'd smack myself.

3. The fact that there are candles on the cake indicates that it would be of the celebratory fashion. I mean, what do people do when there are candles on cakes? They light them up, sing a little ditty, smile and take photos. That is way messed up.

4. But I agree, it's important to keep a sense of humor in life. It's what keeps us sane. Maybe the sense of humor is best when it's not at other peoples' expense? I guess we all have to judge for ourselves.

I love it. I for one felt that 9/11 was laughable as soon as Toby Keith wanted to put a boot in yer as cause it's the American Way. But I had to wait for Arrested Development as well.

Princess, I will make you a twin tower cake, minus the airplanes or terrorism. Your mouth can water, guilt-free!

Yes! When Tobias dropped the joke in Arrested Development, I almost didn't laugh--I was so conditioned against it. But then I realized, FINALLY! A GOOD 9/11 joke, not just some joke about terrorism or your bags being held up in the airport. And it wasn't tasteless, just surprising. And I laughed forever. And rewound. And laughed some more.

Oh my. That cake looks......delicious. Fuck the fact that it looks like something Osama Bin Laden whipped up while watching The Food Network....it still....looks.....amazing. Mmmm. I'd eat one of those towers in a heartbeat! ;)

We are Twin Tower eaters!!!

I would love to see some video of Osama Bin Laden watching Food Network!

I'm trying to decide if the poor craftsmanship makes the cake funnier or just slightly less offensive. Or both? Or neither? Still not sure.

ALL OF THE ABOVE.

This cake makes me sad, which oddly enough, makes me HUNGRY! I would eat the fuck out of those Twin Towers!

It does look delicious yet a tad distasteful at the same time, I would feel bad about eating it, lol!

Sangster, you're totally a Twin Tower eater--you can chow down with me and Joanna.

"A tad bit distasteful" is a tad bit of an understatement. :)
